Funding 'Arts' related productions, events, and workshops for children and adults across the Mackenzie Country and Upper Waitaki!
Canterbury
Mackenzie Performing Arts is a 'not-for-profit' organisation that aims to foster, develop, promote and encourage all forms of 'Arts' across the Mackenzie Country and Upper Waitaki in a way that benefits the community.
We want to provide all people across the Mackenzie Country and Upper Waitaki the opportuntity to be a part of the arts, learn new skills and develop/advance exisiting ones and improve their communication and performing skills and most importantly, their confidence and self-belief.
We are putting on the very first community Musical Theatre Production in Twizel in April 2020. An all time favourite....The Sound of Music! We have a fabulous cast full of Twizel and Omarama community members, children and adults.
To be able to put this large scale production on we are needing funding and sponsorship as we are starting from the very beginning, being the first ever Musical Theatre Production in this rural area...purchasing sound and performance equipment, costumes, sets, props, licenses, theatre hire etc. We don't want this to be at a cost to families here, we want to give them an opportunity to experience what the performing arts is all about!
We also have a great line up of other activities and events under MPA for 2020 planned which include:
- MPA Academy (children aged year 4-year 13)- ‘performance’ based group classes (e.g. drama, musical theatre, dance, public speaking, music technology including radio producing and voice over work, singing 1:1 tuition, instrument tuition).
- Annual community musical productions (adult & children)
- Annual Drama Production (young adults & adults)
- Annual Dinner Theatre Show
- Annual Talent Show
- Workshops for children and adults e.g. photography, painting, drawing, writing, poetry, directing, acting, singing, creating music, recording and producing, dance etc.
- Concerts, open mic nights and town performances
Help us make this dream of ours come alive! We are a 'not-for-profit' organisation and rely on donations and grants to keep us operational. We want to keep putting on incredible events and workshops, get industry professionals to come down to a rural area to teach our community members and allow our children, youth and adults get the opportunity to develop a skills, talent and go places they never thought they could go and do things they never thought were possible.
Any help we can get from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
Funds will go towards the full productions operational expenses e.g. License for the show, scripts, software, wireless microphones, costumes, props, Sets, theatre Hire , advertising, ticket printing/set up etc.
Show is underway 7 January 2020
We have purchased our license for the show, casted the show, scripts have gone out and we are starting to get ready for the first rehearsal on the 18th of January. Thank you to the Fundraiser Dinner Event we held and the donations we made on here as this is what has allowed us to purchase the license and rights to the show!
