Maia’s Liver Transplant Journey

After ongoing tests,scans and biopsy’s i was diagnosed with Liver Cirrohosis at the age of 16 with news i need to receive a liver transplant between the age of 17-21. Liver Cirrhosis is Chronic liver damage from a variety of causes leading to scarring and liver failure which can not be undone. Now being 18 years old and waiting it out, my specialists have discussed to meet with the team in Auckland to talk about my transplant. Unsure of when i may receive the call i know that when the day comes where there is a match i will have to drop everything and go.

Knowing i will be far from home scares me as this procedure will be life changing for both myself and my family. My family and I have decided to set up this page to help support us during my stay in Auckland as this procedure will mean i am away from home for at least 1-2months. As we all know being away from work and home for that long can be very financially difficult which is why this page has been set up to help support and put money towards both accommodation, travel and other expenses while I am in recovery in Auckland. The one thing i want most is to have support while this takes place.
