Archana and her family, who are the victims of a major car crash needs your help during this crucial and difficult times.

Bay of Plenty

On the 3rd of February, Sunday afternoon, Archana was on her way from Auckland to Tauranga, with her daughter age 7 and son age 13 (both in the back seat), and 78 year old Nana as front seat passenger. Archana had reached near Thompsons Track Rd Katikati, when an oncoming vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into Archana's vehicle. Her vehicle rolled side ways couple of times and fell into a bank near the side of the road before stopping. The kids suffered injuries such as bruising and minor injuries to legs, hips and back. They were discharged from Tauranga Hospital after couple of days. Nana suffered injuries to her head, back and had a bruised heart. She still remains in the Hospital for care and will be sent to a hospital near her home in Auckland for rehabilitation when she makes significant recovery. Archana on the other hand was flown out to Waikato Hospital from the scene of the accident. She had a ripped shoulder, multiple broken bones of the arm and leg. She had her pelvis bones broken at couple of places and suffered significant loss of skin and blood. She also suffered a major cut from the top of her nose and across her right eye and currently struggling to see clearly. She was on life support and induced coma for several days. The surgeons and doctors has put her back piece by piece using multiple steel plates, bolts and nuts. She also requires major skin grafting and will have further intervention to her right eye. Archana is likely to remain in Waikato for at least a month or more. She may then be sent for some rehabilitation at Tauranga Hospital before she comes home where she will still be bound to move with the use of a wheel chair until she is healed. This is a long road to recovery for her and meanwhile her older parents and brother are taking care of the children and driving to Waikato Hospital on a daily basis to lift the children's and Archana's spirit. It is a tough time for the kids as they are traumatised with the incident and will require counselling and support around their welfare. Any donations will go into paying for the kids welfare such as school, transportation, physiotherapy, medical bills and meeting their basic needs. The donation will mainly help Archana as she returns home and require daily care, further medical bills, modification to her living environment and lifestyle. Considering her lengthy stay at Waikato Hospital and children having to travel to see her regularly is a huge cost and commitment as well. We are already very grateful for the support that has been given and we thank you in advance for your generous donation to help this family especially to keep the mother and children in touch regularly.

Rohit Kumar's involvement (page creator)

I'm Archana's elder brother and after her recent car crash (not her fault), she has been left with multiple broken bones, injuries, continuous surgeries and long road to recovery. I have the care of her two children while she stays in Waikato Hospital and the children have to be driven to see their mum regularly. The kids were also victims of this accident but have come out with minor injuries. I would like to help the kids with their daily lives and also support Archana with day to day care when she returns home until she can live on her own again.

Use of funds

The funds will be used for the kids daily living such as school, medical bills and travel to Waikato Hospital to see their mother and it will be mainly used for Archana especially when she returns home with restricted mobility.

Another significant step forward  9 March 2019

Yesterday, Archana was hoisted unto a wheelchair for the very first time. Its a significant step forward in her healing. Kids are doing OK but require physio. Nanna is still doing rehabilitation at North Shore hospital and she might not get to go back to her home where she lived for over 20 years but rather go into care. Meanwhile, Archana will remain in hospital for another 4-6 weeks until her bones has healed and she is rehabilitated. Every little moment is a step forward. Thank you all for your generosity and continuous support as this will help especially when she returns home. Thanks
