Make Riverlink awesome for biking

  • Today we're in Court, fighting for better cycling

Today the Riverlink hearing began in the Environment Court - with cycling being the biggest issue in contention.

Many thanks to the many who have done a huge amount of work, and those who have made significant donations, to get us to this point.

The hearing runs until Friday. Our experts are helping us make the case for high quality cycling routes with great connections south, west, north and east.

    Fingers crossed!

  • We're still fighting. Next step: Environment Court on 26 April

We met the applicants for mediation, but weren't able to resolve all the issues. So the next step is a four-day session at the Environment Court, starting on 26 April.

Thanks to your support, we've been able to engage a transport expert to make our case in Court.

We still face a significant shortfall, so please help us fight for better biking in the Hutt. We have one shot at this.

  • See you in court

We tried mediation with the Riverlink applicants but that hasn't delivered key outcomes we're seeking, such as upgraded cycle paths along the Hutt river. So now we're forced to go to the Environment Court to fight for better cycling.

Our initial fundraising goal was $5000. Thanks to your generosity, we surpassed that. But we need to keep going, so we can pay our transport expert to make the case in the Environment Court.

Please chip in so we can ensure RiverLink delivers better biking.

Thank you! Together, we have achieved our initial fundraising goal of $5k. Thanks to your gifts we can pay our transport expert, and get a fair hearing in court. Mediation starts this week. We'll report on progress.

Thanks to your gifts, we're getting close to our Give A Little goal of $5,000. I'm impressed with your generosity. Without your help, we simply couldn't make our case in the Environment Court.

Riverlink definitely needs better cycling connections.

To help us hire the transport experts we need, this week we are applying to the Environmental Legal Assistance Fund for further support. Thanks Matt and the team for getting all the paperwork done.

If successful, we will be well-placed to present our case at mediation, and if necessary, to the Environment Court.

I'm convinced we will get a good result, thanks to your donations and our great team.

Sometimes you have to go to the top. We had a good meeting at Parliament today. We're making the case for better bike paths as part of Riverlink. Your donations make this possible. Thank you.

  • Woah - we're halfway there

To quote the great Bon Jovi, we're halfway there.

Halfway to our target of $5000.

Thanks to all the generous people who are supporting our mission to make Riverlink a great project for cycling. We'd rather be out there riding bikes, but right now we're dedicated to making sure Riverlink's cycle paths aren't half-baked.

I've made a donation because I know our team of advocates and experts we can achieve a great outcome. Shared paths that terminate in a carpark just don't cut it.

  • We were in the Envioronment Court today

      21 December 2021

I went to the Environment Court today to add CAN's voice to the fight for decent bike lanes. We have pro bono legal advice (Thanks Tom!) and now need to raise $15-20k for transport experts. Apparently the Court disregards what lay people say, and have to prefer the evidence of experts. We've got someone lined up but we need to pay them. Your donation helps - thanks.
