Support our Canadian Tour - Empower Us so we may Empower Others - Māmā Mihirangi & the Māreikura

$3,500 of $25,000 goal
Given by 30 generous donors in 6 weeks

Empower us as Indigenous Women so we may empower others. We are seeking funding for our Canadian tour to share, inspire, empower & educate.

Nationwide

Kia ora! We are Māmā Mihirangi & the Māreikura, an all-female Māori group from Aotearoa (NZ), dedicated to uplifting, preserving & sharing our culture through music, dance, healing, and storytelling.

Our tour in Canada is booked, but we didn't secure the funding we applied for. This tour is a mission to educate, inspire, and build bridges between cultures, and we need your help to make it happen.

Why We Need Your Help: Empowerment: To break barriers, inspire women and girls to embrace their heritage & pursue their dreams. Education: To educate our audiences about the history, values, and spirituality of our people, fostering understanding & respect. Community Support: Money raised supports our families and communities back home, helping us uplift and empower ourselves to empower our children. Cultural Preservation: By touring, we keep our traditions alive and vibrant, sharing them with new audiences. Opportunities: We provide opportunities for Māreikura to showcase their talents and inspire audiences globally, opening pathways for their futures.

Your contribution will support Travel Expenses: Flights, accommodation, and transportation in Canada. Performance Costs: Venue rentals, technical equipment, and promotional materials for impactful performances. Cultural Workshops: To share in the communities we visit.

Your donation, no matter the size, makes a huge difference in spreading the spirit of our journey and sharing a message of strength, resilience, and unity.

If you make connections with Indigenous people here in Canada, there is a grant system we can apply for to help with expenses. Let’s do this in the future. It’s called a cultural exchange, and you can come here and share your culture with us and then we can go to your territory and share ours with you. I’m an Indigenous storyteller and it’s my dream to come visit. I’m Haida, Coast Salish, Tlingit and Hawaiian.
