Accommodation for people in recovery from addictions.
Wellington
Do the increasing levels of homelessness in Wellington bug you? Warmth and shelter are basic human needs that should be available to everyone in a healthy society. You only have to walk down Lambton Quay to see first-hand that for many coping with addictions and mental distress, homelessness and poverty are daily realities. Perhaps you’ve been thinking these problems are too big, these people too damaged, and that there is nothing you can do to help- think again.
Last year the New Zealand Society on Alcohol and Drug Dependence decided to provide alcohol and drug free accommodation for people wanting to recover from addictions. In September we opened Mana House- a comfortable four-bedroom suburban home in Wellington. To reside at Mana House tenants must be alcohol and drug free and remain committed to their recovery. Today Mana house is full and we have a substantial waiting list of people wanting accommodation with our service. Rather than move anyone on, we have decided to find another house and grow our network. To continue our work we need your support
Mana House provides accommodation for people in recovery from addictions in an alcohol and drug free supportive recovery environment.
