Please help us relocate and restore our beautiful historic community church - and create a native tree lined walkway while we're at it!
Northland
This 135 year old church needs to be relocated, as the land it sits on is going to be sold. It is listed as a category two historic building. We are going to relocate the church and give it a new life! My great-great-great grandfather, TPN Hewlett, was the first minister at the church, after emigrating from Oxford, England in 1858. We would like the church to remain in the community, as a number of families have ancestors who helped to build, and who attended the church. We are going to relocate it to our family land, where TPN lived for a period. In addition to preserving this historic building, we would like to preserve some heritage rose varieties outside the church. We would also like to create a planted walkway from the church to the harbour, through which members of our community can walk and see native flora and fauna.
The money will be spent on the actual relocation of the church, as well as landscaping and a planted walkway. For every $10 donated, we will plant an extra native tree. We've raised $18,000 for this project so far, we need another $20,000!
