We need your help to raise the $350,000 community contribution towards the Māpua community boat ramp and maritime facility

Mapua, Tasman

The Māpua community needs your help! We need to raise $350,000 towards the construction of a community boat ramp and maritime facility that will provide safe access to the beautiful Tasman Bay and Waimea Estuary.

Our vision is for a double lane community boat ramp and an 800m2 maritime facility with four bays, located at the Māpua waterfront park.

The Māpua community boat ramp and maritime facility is for boaters and many other community stakeholders. This includes emergency services, water-based recreational groups such as the Tamaha Sea Scouts, and water sports-loving community members.

The Māpua community previously had a small boat ramp, however this is no longer available. The current arrangement for boats to access the water at Grossi Point Reserve is unsafe and unsuitable at times. This misuses a site that is important to Iwi and local residents.

The Tamaha Sea Scouts is a fantastic youth organisation that has benefited the Māpua and districts community for almost a century. It urgently needs a proper, dedicated space for its activities, which will allow them to realise their full potential in serving our youth.

This three-year project will provide the whole community with safe access to the sea. This estimated $2.95 million project is being partially funded by the Tasman District Council, with remaining funds being raised from the community.

Donations over $5 are tax deductible. Every donation is important and appreciated. Together we can make this dream a reality.
