MARA-UNITEC-PROJECT

  • You're Fabulous! over 70% of our target raised

      11 December 2015

As of tonight, Friday 11Dec, with 46 days to go, we have raised $7086 towards our target of $10,000.

We have been so fortunate to have the support of very generous and community minded people like yourselves who have helped us reach this figure through donations. While that fund will help us engage the traffic engineer we need so badly, others have given enormously of their time. Although Unitec has their numerous lawyers facing us, we are undaunted especially with the very able professionals we have helping us whom we estimate must have donated thousands of dollars in time to get us to the stage we are.

These generous donations have now put us in a position where we can start some serious discussion with a traffic engineer to review Unitec's evidence.

Next week on 15Dec there is a public meeting at the Metro Football Club at Phyllis Reserve commencing at 7:30pm. Come along to gain a perspective on Unitec's proposal , hear Auckland City's position on the proposal, hear some of the preliminary thoughts on the traffic plan and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Thank you again. With 46 days left, we need to raise just under $64 per day to hit that target figure. You're support is appreciated so much.

    Kind regards

  • UNITEC confirmation of "Excessive Traffic from the development"

      3 December 2015

If we ever needed a reason to engage a traffic engineer it was given today by Darren Horseman of Unitec. When interviewed by Fairfax Media he said "retaining the cul-de-sacs was considered but "was found to add excessive volumes of traffic on to Carrington Rd".

So the "excessive volumes of traffic" will now come onto the cul de sacs you probably live in and onto the already congested Woodward Rd even though Unitec has a solution we offered but which is non negotiable to them.

The article is available to read online at this URL: http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/74455575/unitec-wairaka-precinct-development-puts-pressure-on-mt-albert

Thank you for your contributions. The fund now sits at $6206 as of this afternoon. You are such generous people and you deserve better consideration than what we are seeing from Unitec.

  • We're getting there!

      26 November 2015

    Dear Residents of Mt Albert,

many thanks for your very generous contributions to our challenge of raising funds to cover the costs associated with engaging a traffic engineer. This professional will help us review the traffic stats and plans commissioned by UNITEC in relation to their development.

It's time for another update to let you know how we're going.

We are currently 61 days away from our target date to raise $10,000. As of this morning , 26Nov at 10am we currently have donations received of $5.576. This is fantastic and a big thank you to everyone who has contributed.

Every single dollar, whether it's just $1, $10 or $1000 will all add up to allow us to advocate for you on a more level playing field. We don't have the millions of dollars and phalanx of lawyers which UNITEC has at their command. However we have your enthusiasm and passion to protect our environment from this Goliath of a neighbour who is certainly not acting in a neighbourly way. Every little bit counts.

So thanks for your support and remember to let your neighbours and friends around you know how they can positively influence their neighbourhood.

    Best wishes

    Francis Mortimer
