MARA seeks support to fund a traffic engineer to peer review UNITECs report seeking to amend zoning which impacts housing density near you.
Auckland
MARA, the Mt Albert Residents Association, is advocating at the Unitary Plan panel hearings on behalf of residents in relation to a proposal by UNITEC to change its zoning. Their current proposal is to open up cul de sac streets at the southern end of their current site (Laure St, Renton Rd and Rhodes Ave) with the potential to increase traffic flows into these narrow streets and create further gridlock out onto Woodward.
We are entering a critical phase in the plan hearings and will need to engage specialists to peer review UNITEC's evidence.
This page is created to seek donations from residents and businesses in Mt Albert to help us raise the funds necessary to cover the costs of at least one Traffic Engineer to review and then present rebuttal evidence at the hearings on 26 Jan 2016.
MARA is an association of residents in Mt Albert formed to advocate on behalf of residents with Auckland Council and other regulatory bodies on issues which impact the quality of our neighbourhoods in Mt Albert. Our motto is "To serve, protect and promote our community."
We are actively involved in the Community Liaison Group formed by UNITEC to engage with the community. We take this responsibilities seriously and are concerned at the scale of the rezoning sought by UNITEC.
You're Fabulous! over 70% of our target raised 11 December 2015
As of tonight, Friday 11Dec, with 46 days to go, we have raised $7086 towards our target of $10,000.
We have been so fortunate to have the support of very generous and community minded people like yourselves who have helped us reach this figure through donations. While that fund will help us engage the traffic engineer we need so badly, others have given enormously of their time. Although Unitec has their numerous lawyers facing us, we are undaunted especially with the very able professionals we have helping us whom we estimate must have donated thousands of dollars in time to get us to the stage we are.
These generous donations have now put us in a position where we can start some serious discussion with a traffic engineer to review Unitec's evidence.
Next week on 15Dec there is a public meeting at the Metro Football Club at Phyllis Reserve commencing at 7:30pm. Come along to gain a perspective on Unitec's proposal , hear Auckland City's position on the proposal, hear some of the preliminary thoughts on the traffic plan and have an opportunity to ask questions.
Thank you again. With 46 days left, we need to raise just under $64 per day to hit that target figure. You're support is appreciated so much.
Kind regards
Francis Mortimer
