Help Marcel get stem cell treatment to regenerate his spinal cord cells and tissue and regain movement in his arms, hands, and fingers.
Auckland
Our friend and beloved family member Marcel Syron had a terrible accident in Panama in March 2023 and broke his neck.
Marcel has been back in New Zealand now for over 6 months months and has been at Middlemore and the Auckland Spinal Unit.
Marcel is making real gains towards becoming more independent, but is still very reliant on caregivers due to the severity of his injury.
Marcel has no use of his legs, some use of his arms, and very limited use of his fingers and hands.
Marcel and his supporters want to now help him go overseas for stem cell treatment as this will help regenerate spinal cord cells and tissue.
The stem cell treatment we are looking for is not available in New Zealand, and we are hopeful that this will help Marcel gain more movement in his arms, hands, and fingers.
After looking at different options, we believe Stem Cell Thailand in Bangkok is the best option with the soonest start date.
Marcel has a date booked to do 14 days of treatment there from 12-23 February.
This will be an expensive trip due to the cost of stem cell treatment, and the cost of getting Marcel to Thailand and back while he is still in a very vulnerable state.
The cost of this trip, treatment, accomodation and carers is likely to be around $200,000.
If you are able to, please make a donation, to help Marcel achieve his dream of regaining movement.
Warm Regards
Marcel Syron and his friends and family

Marcels Stemcell trip 15 April 2024
Marcel along with Ray (who was by his right side and helped with his daily needs) and Falko and Andrea, friends who all flew to Bangkok - Thailand on 10 February and returned 28 Feb. Over 18 days Marcel had 3 courses of stem cells injected into the spine and into the muscles at The Regeneration Centre - https://stemcellthailand.org/. In between these courses were peptides and vitamins to support his immune system and help it integrate.
There were rest days in between this. Marcel's first stem cell knocked him down and he slept for 30 hours! He had headaches and felt wiped out but slowly improved.
Interesting learnings taken away from being in a wheelchair ; Thai foot paths and lack of ramps were a challenge but were made manageable with the support crew Marcel had with him.
Marcel wants to personally thank all those that cared, prayed for and supported him through this. Thank you to all those that have contributed on 'give a little' too.
It will be a long journey, this road to recovery but all of us that know him, know how stubborn he is and optimistic too! Lets gooooo!
Thank you!
Thanks Rob, Jerlene and Arron. Really appreciate your support. Not long now till we fly to Bangkok.
