March For The Penguins

  • Signed, sealed, DELIVERED!

      3 July 2017

Kiaora team! Just to let you all know that the ICU has been safely delivered to the crew in charge of the wildlife hospital. We drove up to Dunedin last week to attend a stake-holders meeting and hand over the glorious unit. The hospital itself is hopefully going to open in January 2018, in the Otago Polytech building where the vet nursing courses are situated. Our donation (your donation!) was received with rapturous applause and is much appreciated by the trust board. Be sure to follow the hospital's Facebook page for further updates! Many, many thanks, David & Maddie

An epic accomplishment. We celebrated with pies and whiskey, and after a seriously good sleep, woke to find that our fundraising target had been well and truly smashed out. We could not have achieved what we set out to achieve without your support and encouragement; thank you all so so much! Once the intensive care unit has been purchased we will endeavour to get some photos of it in action and send them to you all. In the meantime please follow The Wildlife Hospital - Dunedin on Facebook to stay in the loop about their progress. You all rock!!! Nga mihi nui, Maddie & David

We have been OVERWHELMED by the donations that have rolled in this week; we can't thank you all enough for your generosity! We are currently waiting to board the plane that will take us to Christchurch for the ultimate test.... bring it on! 🙌🏾 Featured in the photo is a cheeky kaka from Invercargill who unfortunately lost her siblings to a fatal disease earlier this year. Just another reason for a wildlife specialist to be established in the lower South Island 🐥

  • The final stretch!

THANK YOU ALL for your donations! We are well over halfway towards our goal and if the wildlife we've seen in the clinic just over the last fortnight is anything to go by, this intensive care unit will be well utilised when the hospital opens! We've seen a Fiordland Crested penguin, an Olive Ridley sea turtle, and a kakapo that needed releasing after having treatment in Auckland. This hospital is going to be crucial to the success of cases like these and others. Please spread the word for us :-) Nga mihi nui, Maddie & David
