Maria has a cancerous tumor on her face which needs surgery and chemotherapy. She will need our financial support during this time
West Coast
A few weeks ago, my longlife Chilean friend Maria went to the doctor to check an abnormal spot on her face and as a result found out she has a cancerous tumor which needs to be removed. This major surgery requires the doctors to remove the left side of her jaw, cheek bone and palate inside her mouth. She will then have a tracheostomy inserted into her throat for her to breathe, and a gastrostomy tube inserted into her stomach to feed her. The surgery will also involve cutting part of her skull to rebuild the palate and removing muscle and skin tissue from her back and arms to rebuild her face. The surgery is high risk and will be followed by intensive chemotherapy treatment. The public health system of Chile will cover the financial costs of the surgery, however all other expenses such as, medication, transport, food, bills, rent, and recovery etc. will not be covered.
Surgery is scheduled for this week and Maria is in need of any financial support.
As a her longlife friend, I am deeply saddened to not be able to be there in the biggest challenge of her life. Instead I am here and I am asking from the bottom of my heart for your support and prayers. It is my hope to raise money to help Maria with financial assistance to get through this.
Maria is my Chilean friend for over sixteen years and we have been there for each other in the good times and the bad. This is a challenge for her to overcome and for me to support her, as good friends do.
All funds will become her financial support during surgery, chemotherapy and treatment, helping her pay expenses such as medication, transport, food, bills, rent, and recovery.
