Please help Marie and Jed with living costs, as Marie cares for Jed after his diagnosis of inoperable cancerous tumours and paralysis.

Auckland

Just over 2 years ago Marie and Jed tragically lost their beloved son, Dan, to cancer. Together they courageously managed to battle the diagnosis for two years. Marie threw everything into caring for him, while at the same time holding down a job and supporting her precious grandson, Tana. During this time, her mother also had a permanently debilitating stroke and had to be moved to a care home. Marie’s husband, Jed, was her rock and anchor on this very difficult journey. She could not have managed without him. On Friday 18 September Jed had a sore back and pins and needles in his legs. By the end of the weekend he was told he had inoperable cancerous tumours and was paralyzed from the chest down, unable even to use a wheelchair. Marie is beside him 100% on this journey with all her usual love, courage, optimism, humour, serenity and wisdom. Marie and Jed are determined to enjoy what time they have left together.

Marie and Jed used up all their savings supporting Dan’s fight against cancer. With Jed no longer able to work and Marie also off work to care for him, they will struggle to pay their mortgage. Their home will need substantial modifications for Jed's return from hospital and he will need a modified wheelchair due to how high up his chest the paralysis is.

Marie has spent her life selflessly helping others, it would be wonderful if we are able to help her now, in her time of need. She is reluctant, but would gratefully accept any koha. But Marie and Jed have requested that no one who is under financial pressure themselves should donate.

Wishing Marie and Jed all the aroha in the world. Kia kaha.

Please share.
