Please help Marty raise $3500 for his trip to Argentina in February!
Canterbury
Marty has been selected to travel to Argentina to compete in the Patagonia Cup. For those of you that know Marty, you will know that he is one of the most hard-working, motivated and loyal basketball players in Canterbury.
Having started off playing basketball in Year 6, Marty quickly found his love of basketball and went on to represent Canterbury throughout the age groups. He has played a number of games in the New Zealand National Basketball League for the Canterbury Rams, Cougars and North Harbour Heat.
Marty's talents not only lie on the basketball court as a player but also as a ref. Having refereed numerous finals at National level, pre-season ANBL games and most recently his first international matches between the Tall Ferns and Japan.
Marty's love of basketball not only takes up a lot of time and commitment but also impacts him financially. Having a full time job means that he has had to sacrifice his annual leave days and take days off without pay for NBL games and refereeing at various tournaments around the country.
Marty will travel with the team to Argentina for 17 days and the cost of the trip for each player is $3500. Whilst the team is doing a great job of fundraising, there will still be a significant cost to each player. This is where he needs help! Let's give back to Marty for all his hard work and dedication throughout the years. He really truely is the Heart and Soul of Canterbury Basketball!
I'm involved with this cause because I would love to show my support to Marty.
