Raising funds for Stem Cell treatment expenses in Singapore for my husband who suffers from M.S.
Auckland
Matthew was diagnosed in 2003 with M.S. and has fought with the disease, continuing to work until 2015 before his disability stopped him.
Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease which attacks the nerves in the brain and spine gradually diminishing the connection to the body. The cause is unknown. There is no effective medication for him and the disease continues to progress despite living as well as possible.
The bone marrow stem cell replacement treatment (HSCT) offers hope of stopping the disease by resetting the immune system. This procedure for M.S. isn't done in New Zealand or Australia so he wishes to travel to Singapore, taking for two months to complete. This has the potential to arrest the disease and even regain some ability.
I am heartened by so many positive reports of good outcomes by other M.S. sufferers that have had this treatment so would like to ask anyone moved to help to donate and give him his life back.
This is my husband whom I love dearly. He was fit and well, full of life, when we first met and I am saddened to see his health deteriorate and suffering trying to hold on to the enjoyment of life .
All donations will be used for hospital fees in Singapore.
Any surplus will be donated to one of the many other M.S. sufferers who may want to pursue this treatment.
