Matt has loss of scalp hair due to Alopecia. Give a little to help fund the scalp pigmentation treatment so he can feel a bit more normal :)

Bay of Plenty

Matt has had the autoimmune disorder called Alopecia since he was 11 years old.

Alopecia begins when clumps of hair fall out, resulting in totally smooth, round hairless patches on the scalp. In rare cases, complete loss of scalp hair and body hair occurs. The hair loss often comes and goes.. however about 10% of people with this condition may never regrow their hair.

Matt has full loss of scalp hair and unfortunately it has never decided to grow back.

Matt struggled with bullying through high school and was never seen without a beanie or hat on his head. It wasn't until he met his wife Tessa that he found his confidence and chose to embrace his bald head by going without something covering his head.

Since Matt chooses not to wear a wig often people will stare at him or make remarks about his baldness without knowing about the alopecia.

That's where the Shadow Clinic come in... The Shadow Clinic based in Auckland use a treatment called Scalp pigmentation. The treatment is a highly detailed process where pigments are applied directly to the scalp to replicate the natural appearance of real hair follicles. It creates the appearance of a buzz cut, cropped or shaved hair style to create what many are saying the most natural realistic solution for hair loss. For more info visit http://www.theshadowclinic.co.nz/

He is hoping that with the scalp pigmentation treatment people will be less likely to stare as well as make unnecessary comments. In his own words he wants the treatment to make him feel a bit more normal.

Matt has been saving up for this ever since he found out about the clinic however the treatment itself isn't cheap. It requires 3x sessions which in total equal $2,850.

I mentioned to him that I think a lot of people would be interested in helping him out and so decided to make this page. Any donations of any size will be hugely appreciated!!!

Thank you for your time :)

I am involved as Matt is my cousin and I know he has been saving up for this treatment and wanted to see if I could help him out with finding the money for the procedure :)

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
