      31 December 2024

A message from Mikaere Sydney Lee Taingahue and whānau ❤️ part 2…

Thank you everyone for showing up to what was an incredibly uplifting event for us all.

But…here’s the thing; keep on shining a light on your hauora and just keep going… keep walking…keep connecting.. keep inspiring others..keep challenging… keep well for ourselves - and our whanau. Keep looking after our Koro Mauao.

Love and appreciation to the amazeballs crew who organised this kaupapa and pooled their amazing talents to make the day the success it was. And to the organiser extraordinaire, Mikaere’s Uncle Hemi Rolleston, we are proud and grateful for you.

On a final note, Mikaere’s recovering after a recent outbreak of COVID (on top of his illness) at Tga Hospital. Mikaere is young and strong and we look forward to the day he’s discharged from the hospital. Meantime thank you one and all for your texts, voice msgs and visits which remind us how lucky and loved we are. Thank you also to everyone who contributed to the Givealittle page which will be used by Mikaere to assist in his future rehabilitation. No more words, just aroha in abundance to you all. 2025 promises much, keep well and keep your cheeks apart xx

  • A final message from Mikaere Lee and whānau to you all

      31 December 2024

Tihei mauri ora, ki te Whai Ao, ki te Ao Marama; E aku nui, e aku rahi, tena koutou tena tatou katoa. Before we farewell and pay tribute to 2024 and welcome 2025… And the busyness of life takes over… On behalf of Mikaere and our whanau,

we are humbled and grateful for your tautoko, aroha, sweat, sterling efforts and $$ at the recent Mauaoathon 2.0 2024 #4Mikaere. We are humbled over and beyond at the generosity, care and big hearted actions of you all in response to this kaupapa. My boys been amazed and teary to see your beautiful faces in the many pics from the day of the Mauaoathon along with the messages of love and support. For everyone who climbed up or around Koro Mauao between 5.30am to 5.30pm to support the kaupapa, you are our living breathing real life heroes. We acknowledge you all and saw what it took to put your body on the line. Whether that was the challenge of one climb or 13, we are “stick out ya chest proud” of everyone’s efforts. The kaupapa of kotahitanga (working together), with a focus on our hauora (health and wellbeing) with a korowai of aroha brought out the best in everyone who added their lil bit of magic to the day. Combined with stunning weather, good vibes, happy people and an amazing support crew keeping everyone counted, hydrated, fed, and re-energised, because every one of those climbs mattered on the day. In some small way we also helped to heal our Koro Mauao after the hōhā actions of vandals on the kapehu. Thank you tbc
