Maureen is needing your help to get her to Germany, so that cancer is a chapter is in her life, not her life

Nationwide

Maureen is needing to get to Germany for lifesaving treatment, as there are no further options available in New Zealand.

Maureen was diagnosed 6 years ago, in 2008, with Stage IVBE follicular B cell lymphoma, grade 3a. Bowel Cancer - diffuse large B Lymphoma. Breast Cancer Her-2+ 2008. RCHOP chemo 2009 Herception Breast cancer Chemo 2010 Chemo 2011 Radiation ICE Chemo Stem-cell harvesting 2012 April 2012 Stem-cell transplant with her own cells In 2013, she had a massive relapse and with no treatment options left in New Zealand, Maureen left for Germany. She was gravely sick at this point, and the Berlin clinic that she was treated at, saved her life. After returning to New Zealand, September 2013, she asked for a immunotherapy drug to carry on from the German treatment and was declined three times. The cancer is growing through the lymphatic system. She looked for treatment in New Zealand and again, no treatment options or funding. So Maureen is trying to go back to Germany where her German oncologist is looking to get her cancer into remission, not just save her life this time. This next treatment is different from the last treatment - it is longer and more expensive. Maureen and her family have no self-funding available, so she is needing your help.

Update for 19/12/2014  19 December 2014

All her tumours have reduced to almost extinction whereby she will only need maintenance treatmentand monitoring while living back in New Zealand.

Unfortunately Maureen has struggled with hip and pelvis pain for approximately 2 years. Through very thorough investigation in Germany they have found that the pain is due to complications of her Breast Cancer which she had addressed almost 5 years ago. These lesions can be treated successfully in Germany with more Chemotherapy and Radiation.

She is overwhelmed and sensitive about how generous we have all been so far to support this worthy cause.

This is a real setback for her recovery and return to New Zealand as she may have to stay in Germany for another 3 months. Her German doctors are optimistic about her recovery but we need further funding to support Radiation Treatment, Hospitalization plus accommodation and living expenses of the next 3 months.

Maureen has been incapacitated completely with this hip and pelvis pain, (she can’t tolerate most of the drugs for pain!) so much so that communication via skype, email or txt have not been a consideration by her. She apologises for not communicating.

The overall news of her treatment and recovery is positive and favourable however, because her breast cancer markers were never monitored in New Zealand she now has secondary lesions in her pelvis, lower back and ribs. Radiation treatmentand chemotherapy are necessary to treat these lesions. She will be completely bedridden for up to six weeks with frequent stays in the hospital system in Germany.

Maureen remains very positive as always and asked me to send her Love and Very Best Wishes to you all for Christmas and the New Year

The new fundraising target to allow Maureen to complete this treatment is $50,000 NZD.
