Grasp a Breath - 'Oxygen Concentrator' Project - May 2021

  • Doing nothing is not an option.

My heartfelt thanks to Friends, Friends of Friends and Anonymous donors, who taught me a thing or two about generosity.

When I started this campaign I did not know how much I would achieve. What the costs going to be or the process. Fair to say I have learned a lot. From here we are continuing to procure the equipment and protective gear for serving in the relief efforts as mentioned in earlier updates.

The collections have been lesser than the target, and once Givealittle takes their 5% out, it will be even less. However, it has given us sufficient to procure the minimum we needed to procure and enable the relief efforts.

Some of you have indicated to continue your support given this shortfall, for which I am thankful. Please contact me.

As parting note, I say that, we all have have to chip-in towards a cause that resonates with our conscience. Doing nothing is not an option.

    Ngā mihi

    Ambresh

  • The poor and rural India biggest beneficiary of free service.

The rich and well-off will figure it out, now that, in large cities, there are many options becoming available. However, the poor and in rural India , the free service really makes the difference. Because remember the VIRUS - does not Discriminate.

We have just confirmed with my guys to get the thermometer, oxymeter etc, to get things ready. The rural India location was recently struck with disastrous typhoon. Thus delaying progress.

"It wasn’t just acute need that caused the run on oxygen. Panic drove people to buy oxygen cylinders and machines like oxygen concentrators at three times their regular rate on the black market, even if the buyers didn’t immediately need them, according to anecdotes from consumers and media reports."

  • Cases subsiding but Oxygen demand to continue

    UPDATE 17th May 2021

The situation on the ground is evolving and changing by the hour. Statistical graphs show that India's COVID cases is reaching a peak and now in a decline/plateau stage.

Given the ups and downs in this, still lethal, wave, we will continue with procuring the oxygen concentrator machines and related PPE gear. It appears that at this stage we might have to direct more toward the rural location than in the city. The machines will be stored at these two distinct locations, ready to be put in action as and when needed.

Our preference would be to procure machines locally, however given the supply / demand, shipping from China or another country is not ruled out.

'Oxygen' is not going out of fashion anytime soon! excuse the pun.

  • Oxygen Crunch...

    Not quite.

This is about Crunch in supply of 'Oxygen Concentrators'. We are widening our procurement options and will work with however many can be procured within the budget, and divide them between the two relief locations, as needed.

In addition, to protect the guys administering these we need to procure PPE, disinfectant, Oxymeter, Gloves, masks and a ready supply of spare Oxygen Tubes. I have been advised these tubes cannot be shared between patients. These supplies will be sourced within India using the funds from this campaign.

  • The fruits have started ... bearing

Extremely pleased to advise the first of the two Concentrators has arrived in Delhi, other is in transit to the rural India where my other contact will run this.

I have also requested them to procure some PPE and other safety gear for their own sake...

By not having to import these from overseas, we have significantly cut the time...

Now onward and upward to the next. The ground situation is evolving by the hour and very dynamic....

  • A 'Viral' campaign...

You see, you donated because maybe you appreciated the effort, or identified with the cause or another reason more personal to you.

There are others you know too, who would care for this cause, in their own way.

I request, please share link to this campaign on your social media. We need more 'eyes' to be able to reach the goal.

Literally, we need the campaign to go 'Viral'. No pun intended.

Yes, so true. Thanks to you this campaign to raise the funds is gaining momentum. However, the other side the Covid wave in the sub-continent is Gaining Momentum, too.

I now have spoken to my friends in India, most of whom have lost someone in their extended family or friends circle.

Take a look at what these Oxygen Concentrators are. ...

Target 10 at estimated cost of $NZ 1,000 each - aim $10,000 to be collected in 14 days.

Currently collected approximately $NZ 2,500. (Through some fundraising, and with the support of friends)

$NZ 500 per day collection will get us to this goal.

If it exceeds this then we can get to our goal sooner.
