Discover a simple, life-changing meditation practice - inclusive and accessible to everyone in prisons and communities.
Auckland
Kia ora, I’m Wairere. I’m seeking support for a kaupapa to bring a powerful, accessible meditation practice into Aotearoa prisons.
I’m fundraising to return to Spain to complete the final three months of 'The Bright Path Ascension' meditation training, so I can teach this practice here in Aotearoa. It supports clarity, peace, joy, and can be learned in a weekend.
This matters because over half of the people in Aotearoa prisons are Māori. I whakapapa to Te Ātiawa (Taranaki), Ngāti Raukawa, Kāti Mamoe, and Waitaha, and have been encouraged by The Bright Path teachers to complete my training. The aim is to teach meditation to everyone in prison while also ensuring a presence with my people.
Funds raised will go toward tuition, accommodation, and living costs during my three-month stay in Spain. Total cost is $30,000 NZD; I’m aiming to raise $10,000 to bridge the gap.
You can also watch the documentary A Mindful Choice with a koha, or attend our Auckland fundraiser night.
If this kaupapa resonates with you, I invite you to support or share this page. Every koha helps extend a culturally grounded meditation practice into prisons and communities across Aotearoa.
Mauri ora,
Wairere
