Meela needs a life saving bone marrow
Manawatu / Whanganui
Meela is 7 years old and has recently had a relapse of luekemia and she needs an expensive bone marrow transplant.
My niece Meela who is 7 years old lives in South Africa and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia( ALL) when she was 2. After her initial treatment she spent 3 years cancer free but now has relapsed.
As part of her treatment she will need to have a bone marrow transplant. Out of the 35 compatible donors in South Africa non have turned out to be perfect matches. She now requires an overseas donor which is very costly. Our family and friends aim to raise about $50 000 to help cover the costs of her treatment.
Meela is my niece.
Thank you to all you wonderful and generous donors over the past few months. We really appreciate your kindness. Meela is doing so well on her Chemo she is starting her 7th block this week. As far as a donor is concerned there is a strong possibility of a donor match from Germany however we are still waiting patiently to hear any more news about that. My brother and his wife are staying positive and Meela still has a smile on her face. Thank you all for your support.
