Why did we get involved?
I have been to watch the Stars on Ice competition the last two years and have known people involved, and it’s been an awesome event to watch and see how much people taking part progress over the 8 weeks. I used to play Ice Hockey as a child and have always looked for any chance to get back on the ice. When I noticed the event being advertised on Facebook, I absolutely did not want to miss the opportunity to get involved. Luckily, the company I work for could see how much of a great event and club this would go towards and were happy to sponsor me to be part of it!
As well, as an adult – I think it’s rare you get the opportunity to gain a new skillset, which is what motivated me to get involved. Overcoming new challenges and being able to do something I was not previously able to gives me a huge sense of achievement and it’s great to be part of such an exciting event!
Also, it’s given me a full appreciation of how much skill is involved in figure skating and how many talented people are involved in the Queenstown skating club. - Megan sponsored by Challenge Rafting.
