Send Melissa (16 years old) to Vanuatu on a medical missions trip with Marine Reach
Auckland
I have been accepted on a short term mission to Vanuatu with Marine Reach. Marine Reach is a Christian organization that provides free medical services in the Pacific Islands to the poorest regions. I will be joining their team aboard Pacific Hope (their medical ship) for a two week outreach in September this year. I will get opportunities to share and grow in my faith during outreach.
For the past four years, I have had my heart set on becoming a nurse and serving on Mercy Ships (a similar organization that serves in Africa). So I see this as a valuable training opportunity. Marine reach will provide me with some real life experience in this ministry.
I will be joining a team of nurses, doctors, dentists and other volunteers. We will be visiting some of the outer islands of Vanuatu. For the Ni-Vanuatuan people who live in these islands, village life is the foundation of society. Unfortunately, there is only one doctor for every 30,000 Ni-Vanuatuans. Access to medical services is very limited especially in villages.
Some major expenses for my two week adventure will be Flights (to Vanuatu), travel insurance, Marine Reach outreach fee (this also covers accommodation on the ship and food) and immunizations. Please prayerfully consider financially supporting my mission.
