Help us get menopause posters into GP practices and medical centres for International Women's Day 2025

$5,293 of $2,572 goal
Given by 168 generous donors in 4 weeks

We’ve raised funds for stamps to send posters to the 1,000 x GP practices across NZ. Any extra donations will help fund printing/envelopes.

Wellington

First we reached our Givealittle goal ($2,572) to post the Australasian Menopause Society’s posters in English and Te Reo Māori to 500 x GP practices/medical centres across Auckland & Wellington. Then we doubled our goal to raise $5,144 to buy enough stamps to reach EVERY GP practice (1,000) across Aotearoa! Any additional donations received before/on International Women’s Day (8 March) will help us fund the extra printing and envelopes.

Every woman/wahine who lives beyond midlife will go through peri/menopause. Some non-binary, and trans men will experience symptoms too. Since the hormonal changes through this inevitable and important stage of life can affect someone cognitively, physically and emotionally, we think everyone has the right to:

1. Accessible information

2. Understanding

3. Support

Learning about menopause/ruahinetanga in secondary schools alongside puberty/pregnancy is not mandatory in Aotearoa New Zealand. It's not common to see posters or brochures about menopause in GP practices and our Ministry of Health 'does not currently have any plans to lead a public awareness campaign about menopause'.

We are five volunteer advocates Sarah Connor, Julie Reddish, Ruth Smillie, Rachael Fitzjohn and Nicki Eldridge (menopause.matters.nz on Instagram) using our #rageforgood.

Ricoh NZ sponsored the printing of the posters for Auckland/Wellington. Capital Office Supplies generously donated the envelopes.

Every bit counts so thanks for giving us as little or much as you can.

We reached the goal of reaching over 1000 clinics sent posters!  10 March 2025

Thank you for helping us reach every GP practice/medical centre in the country.

Our original goal was to raise enough money to buy enough stamps to send posters about menopause/ruahinetanga to GP practices/medical centres in Auckland and Wellington. Thanks to you, we've raised enough funds to reach every practice (1,000) in the country.

We have started to be sent pictures of the posters up on clinic walls across the motu! If you spot one, please take a photo and send it to us at menopausemattersnz@gmail.com.

To keep in touch, you can follow us on Instagram @menopause.matters.nz.

To raise awareness of menopause/ruahinetanga in your workplace or community you can print the A4 posters from here: https://www.menopause.org.au/health-info/infographics.

Our job is going to be building on this success and campaigning for a pro-active education programme to reach women before perimenopause.

Thanks again for your amazing support for our campaign to make menopause matter. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Julie Reddish, Sarah Connor, Ruth Smillie, Rachael Fitzjohn & Nicki Eldridge
