I am raising funds to purchase school equipment for the children at Mewar Public School Jaipur while I am volunteering here
Auckland
After some requests on how people can help I have set up a page for people who wish to donate.
I am spending 6 weeks volunteering at Mewar Public School which is located in the very small town of Uniara, Jaipur, India. I am here to teach English and assist the teachers as well as helping with their programs that help to encourage villagers to send their children to school, with a special focus on girls education. There is only about 20% girls enrolled at the school which is a number they are trying to increase with an aim of 60% female students. Girls education is not as highly valued here and this is something the school is hoping to change.
Mewar Public School was started in 2012 with an aim to provide education to those who had little or no previous access to schooling. The school currently caters for Nursery up to Grade 6 (from age 3 to 13). Many of the children travel for hours a day to make it to school and most of the children are sponsored with their uniform, tuition, school supplies and transport to and from school being provided. To learn more about the school please see the website http://eliselammers.wix.com/mewar-public-school (note - it is very basic, I will help establish a better one)
While the school has the essentials, it is very basic. I am going to use my money, and any funds that people may wish to donate, to purchase equipment for the school such as books, art and sport supplies, stationary and any other items I see a need for while I am living here. All purchases will be made with the Director, with whom I am living, and I will share in updates on here and my Facebook page.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my fundraiser and an extra big thank you to those who donate
I came to India a few months ago and felt a strong need to come back and work with the beautiful children here. I was put in touch with Mewar Public School through a friend and am living here until May to help wherever possible and teach English
