Let's help young Gisborne swimmer Michael Pickett achieve his 2020 Olympic Games vision!
Gisborne
With his sights set on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, young Gisborne swimmer Michael Pickett is putting in the effort to make his vision a reality.
So far his dedication's paying off and he's heading in the right direction... In July 2018, Michael was named NZ Swimming Alumni Harlequins Zonal EMERGING SWIMMER OF THE YEAR.
And, following his record-setting blitz at the New Zealand Open championships in July 2018, he's been selected to attend the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Fiji, from 23 - 26 August.
He’s also been selected as one of four New Zealand athletes to attend the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina from 6-18 October this year.
These are the kinds of events he needs to prepare himself to qualify for the 2020 Olympics...
Michael’s parents, Anna McVey and Fletcher Pickett, are already working hard to ensure he can be at school in Australia to train with the best coaches and motivating team mates.
Now his extended family wants to help him get to the international swim meets/competitions he needs to keep breaking his personal best times... we've set up this page so you can donate if you want to help us to cover his travel costs.
Michael currently swims for North Shore Swimming Club in New Zealand. He swam for Enterprise Gisborne Swim Club until he left Gisborne in early 2018.
