I am Midge's grand - daughter Bubba. To our whanau she is aroha- aro (our love) she is ha (my/our breathe of life).
Northland
My name is Te Rangimarie (aka) Bubba. I recently turned 18 and work fulltime in Auckland. All this would not have been possible without my nan Midge. Despite being on the benefit she gave up a lot to ensure I remained in school. She never let up, "get an education and a good job, this will enable you to get out there and do it-no 'dole' queues for you BUBBA". But most of all she instilled in me the importance of manaakitanga (being respectful, honest, caring, sharing and empathetic. Most certainly values I have embraced and applied when I am with other people. Though I did not want to leave my nan in the Far North and come to work in Auckland I did so 3 months ago. I believe without Nan's support and love all these years I would not be the hardworking, respectful, caring and obsessive compulsive 'clean freak' that I have turned out to be.
Now nan is 'very' sick in Auckland hospital. She is being treated for brain and lung cancer. 2 brain surgery so far, doctors believe more surgery is needed only time will tell.
On behalf of her whanau and I we asking for koha (financial) support through GIveaLittle to help ease the financial pressures on my Nan while she is receiving treatment and on her road to recovery while in Auckland Hospital. We want to ensure Nan's time in hospital is about her getting the best treatment possible. She was already on a limited income prior to getting sick 2 weeks ago while out in her garden. From there she was put on a helicopter at Kaitaia hospital for emergency surgery in Auckland 1 day later.
Aroha for my/our Nanny Midge is immense. She has given so much for me, her other moko and whanau therefore together with whanau whananui (family/extended family) we gracefully ask he tangata ( the people) of Aotearoa New Zealand to tautoko (support) our beloved Nanny Midge through all the medical treatment so that some of us whanau including me can have time off work to care for her.
For our whanau she is a much loved sister and daughter and grandmother (Nan) to not only me but her many other grandchildren.
Love you so much Nan your cleaning fanatic( OCD) moko Te Rangimarie - Bubba Greaves.
I am Midge sister along with her grand-daughter Bubba. Together on behalf of her immediate and extended family, children and grandchildren we are seeking support through 'GiveaLittle'. We want to ensure Nan's time in hospital is about her getting the best treatment possible and not having to worry about financial pressures while she is in Auckland Hospital. 1 week ago Midge was flown from Kaitaia to Auckland Hospital where she was diagnosed with lung cancer and lesions on the brain. Thank you Bubba, Aunty Lawz and whanau.
Midge has access to funds to help ease financial pressures while she in Auckland Hospital. Doctors are saying possibly 3 months. If treatment goes 'pear-shape' then funds would be used on holiday overseas or donated to children with cancer (CCS).
Nan off home 28 June 2018
Nan's off home to the far north where whanau and local doctors are going to care for her.
She will travel from her home back to Auckland for treatment with specialists and ongoing operations. She is scheduled for another operation in 3 weeks.
For our sister and whanau it has been an extremely emotional time. But love and support for her and each other gives us strength
For now home is where she believes her health will improve.
On behalf of our whanau please continue to support our nan Midge by reliefing her from financial pressures and travelling costs to Auckland for treatment.
Thank you
Bubba and Lawz
