Hello everyone! My name is Mikal Maiquez (and Chokie to my family and some friends) If you donate to my amazing Give a Little fundraiser, you'll be helping me accomplish my dreams by sending me to Las Vegas, California to the Michael Jordan Camp! That is truly an amazing thing for a 11-year old kid from Auckland who plays basketball all the time, so I am asking you to help me raise money so I can do this!  Not only that I will also be a part of a team from BOYD Basketball Academy NZ to compete in Gold Coast Australia from 11 to 17 of July, after which I will be flying to USA for the Michael Jordan Camp at MJ Flight School which will be on from 21 of July to 2 of August.

Last year and a half has been pretty tough for me, after my dad had a massive brain surgery which led to paralysis of the right side of his body and his comprehension was also idled. He was the sole bread winner of our family and it was hard for me to continue my basketball training and all.  But somehow, my amazing mum has kept us intact and actually got me better opportunities! This trip will be the best of it all by far! Recently I have realised that the best of a person will only come at the worst possible time. That's how I think I have made my way through this tough time. So if you are still reading this, please give a little to help me accomplish something absolutely incredible at a time like this. I'm not asking for much, but if you give, you will help a person have a incredible time and one he will never forget. Oh, and one last thing, I'll try my best to get at least a selfie with Michael Jordan, for you guys!

Thank you so much!

From Mikal Maiquez

Mums note: It was Mikal/Chokie who saved his dad when his dad had the incident. With his quick thinking he called 111 and made sure His dad was conscious while the ambulance was still on the way. If not for his effort, his dad will not make it alive. Despite that big hurdle in our family in 2014 Mikal  has shown great determination and faith bringing heaps of achievements and attributing them to his dad who is still recovering from stroke.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
