Mikayla's fight with Hodgkins Lymphoma

October last year Mikayla started getting really sick and for months, in and out of the hospital each time but still getting worse, with no reason as to why she was sick. Doctors couldn't pinpoint what was wrong with her until on March 24th. My older sister Mikayla (only 24 years old) has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer.

When we were told of the news, we were all in shock, because you always think 'it couldn't happen to me', but unfortunately it can, and it can happen when you least expect it. Unfortunately we were informed a day prior to the lockdown.

Mikayla is a healthy, energetic person who has a 2-year old baby girl, Sophie. Mikayla puts Sophie first despite her own medical issues and tries to do what she can for Sophie without asking for help. Mikayla has aspirations of becoming a book publisher in the near future. Life has been put on pause for her, as she moved back in with her family, the five of us, to help give her support while she goes through this hard time.

Mikayla is the strongest, bravest, most independent person you'll ever meet. She's a true fighter in everything that she does and this is no exception.

Doctors have recommended that she starts Chemotherapy as soon as possible. Which means travelling to and from the hospital every two weeks for treatment, and doctor appointments in between.

We are looking for any financial support to help with the ongoing costs that Mikayla and our family are going through. The support will go towards travel expenses, hair wigs and anything Mikayla needs while she continues to fight Hodgkins Lymphoma.

I understand that this is a hard and stressful time for everyone, especially during a global pandemic, and I know that there is constant support between family and friends and we are so appreciative of that, but anything will help.

Mikayla has been super strong this entire time, being an amazing mother to her child and continues to make everyone laugh through this difficult time.
