Mike is doing a head shave to raise money for The Acorn Project Hawke`s Bay
Hawke's Bay
"3 years ago I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and commenced chemotherapy on 14/12/18, supported by, amongst others, my then 13 year old son, Jack
The first chemo resulted in a 6 day hospital stay, and the next one caused me to start losing my hair. Since then I have not had a hair cut, and have always had a vague idea that one day I would have my head shaved for a good cause.
At the time there was no support in Hawke's Bay for young people in Jack's position. Since then the Acorn Project has been set up, how I wish they had been around back then.
The work they do not just for youngsters with cancer, but for those with a relative with cancer is vital, and fills a much-needed gap in the health system.
Relatives of people with cancer can go through a very tough time emotionally, and can be overlooked.
Please support the Acorn Project by making a donation.
Thank you"
