Raising funds to support 78-year-old assault victim Mike Reilly
Auckland
Mike was terribly assaulted in Auckland in 2018 and lost the use of his legs. But the hospital wrote his injury off as long-term nerve damage. Without effective care and rehabilition from the health system, Mike has lost everything and needs to fund osteopathy and consultations with private specialists in his search for proper treatment.
I am Mike's Son and caregiver
Donations will go towards funding a course of Osteopathy for Mike and specialist fees required to have his injury diagnosed properly.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to everyone for the support and well-wishes for Mike.
As a result of the media attention we got mid-year, a neurologist in the USA contacted us and asked to look over Mike's notes. After some deliberation he came back with his opinion that Mike did sustain a permanent injury during the assault.
So we will now apply to get the proper treatment Mike should have had from the start. It is a long, bureaucratic process that, we have learned, is applied across the board by what we believe is a corrupt system to avoid paying out for medical treatment. It took a long time to learn this as we trusted the system to look after Mike.
With this new medical opinion we hope we can break through the walls put up by the NZ Health System and finally get some Justice for Mike.
Thank you all for your love and support along the way.
