Waikato
Kia ora,
As a whanau, we are seeking some support to help out our Warrior Princess Mila-Anne and her whanau as they battle a rare condition of Brain Cancer.
In 2017, at 3 weeks old, Mila- Anne was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma which is cancer of the bone and this was in her spine. She had to have 3 ribs removed to get to the cancer that was located by her right lung, which was also affecting her breathing. She had undergone many surgeries, doctors appt, scans, most of her first two years of her life, spent in Starship hospital. Her close whānau of 9, put life on hold to help support Mila-Anne who was located at Starship most times, as well as trying to juggle work, studies and her other siblings who still needed to be at school here in Hamilton.
Last year in 2019, she had beat this cancer battle, and it honestly was the best news ever, and her whānau were overwhelmed with this news that, they could start re-building life around this little girl that has bought so much joy to their lives, but through all of this she was also fighting the fact that her spine was growing crooked and was still undergoing treatment, tests and finding the brace and cast to help align her spine to being straight again.
Mila-Anne has never let any of this affect her ability to be just like every other child, and do everything from playing, climbing, running, singing, dancing and doing kapa haka and having so much fun with her whanau and friends, in her 3 years of life.
But on Friday last week, Mila-Anne was experiencing some headaches and so her whānau rushed her into A&E in which a MRI scan was done and once again, she was taken to Starship hospital, now fighting a new form of an Incurable Brain Tumour cancer which is now located in the Cerebellum part of the brain. At this present time the 9cm tumour covers 1/3 of her brain. There is also little fragments of tumours all over her head. She has undergone a CT scan and on Tuesday she will go through a surgery where they will take some of the tumour from her brain and send it to America to get tests done to find out what this cancer is, and also hopefully take some pressure from the tumour which is pushing down on her brain.
So any koha or donations will go towards Mila-Anne and her whānau to help them as now they have to put work commitments on hold, and financially this puts a strain on them and their children who still are schooling in Hamilton. This will be one less burden for them to have to worry about. This will also help them to enjoy every day, hour, minute and second they have to spend with our little Warrior Princess Mila-Anne.
Thank you to everyone for your love, support and prayers that you have shown to the whānau already, they are truly overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity.
I am Mila-Annes cousin and have been apart of her growing up.
The funds will help the whanau to be able to travel back and forth from Hamilton to Auckland, cover their expenses while being at Starship, ensuring that needs back in Hamilton while the whanau cant work at this time are also being met.
Our Milas latest update 28 August 2021
Update on Mila.
As most of you know Mila-Annes cancer has returned. 1. C.T scan and an MRI later doctors have confirmed that the cancer has not only spread throughout her brain but down her spine and neck also. She has also got too much pressure and fluid on her brain. Unfortunately, doctors have said that this time around there is no cure for her. She started 5 days Radiation to help somewhat ease her mamae & now she has been taken home to Ohiwa too live out her final days with the whānau.
We thank our whanau and everyone for all our love, your prayers & your support!
We are so proud of our baby, she has fought so hard to be here. We love u with everything we have...
Sincerely,
Milas shattered whanau
