Our beloved Milo needs your help! Help us fight cancer!
Canterbury
Milo and Lizzie are besties who have been together for 11 years.
Milo is a beautiful Black Lab x Boxer. He is a social butterfly who loves walkies, cuddles, soft toys, and water and Lizzie is an Administrator for Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) and is Milos's Mum.
Unfortunately, most of their outings recently have not been so fun and involved jabby-jabs at the vet because Milo has become really unwell. While Milo always gets a treat-o for being the best boy, it's not been much fun, and it has been determined after many tests that Milo has cancer in place close to his wagg-o-meter.
The technical term is Anal Gland Adenocarcinoma (AGA) - Rectal tumor in Anal Sac. The good news is the outcome is not as bleak as initially thought (huge relief!!) and with surgery and some follow-up chemo Milo should be back chasing balls, demanding belly rub, and splashing in the river!
As many of you will be all too aware, the Vet bills do not come cheap and while working in Health is amazing, it in no way allows for a Gucci budget, and the cost is a financial burden putting Lizzie in a really tough, and stressful situation. She refuses to let her best boy down but is struggling to take care of her basic needs at the same time.
I'm reaching out on behalf of Lizzie and Milo, 2 to ask anyone who can to make a donation to the cause and help lift some of the burden off Lizzie, so she can in turn focus on taking care of Milo and getting him back to his normal self.
Milo has had numerous tests including Blood and a CT. His surgery is an expected cost of $3.5 - 4.5k. He will then have costs associated with Chemo treatment, and also seizure, pain, and joint medication ongoingly. The total estimated cost is $6 - 7k
He's a trooper..but still a long journey to go 29 September 2023
Thank you everyone for the generous donations recieved so far! Milo had his surgery and it went well. He spent some days feeling pretty sorry for himself, understandably! He has the best human who even slept on the floor by his side for a few nights of very little sleep, making sure he was ok. His back end and half his tail is looking pretty nakie after being shaved and the old bucket on the head isn't the most fashionable - but the tails back to doing some wagging. There's more to come treatment wise but so far things are going as well as they can be. Please share the page with friends, family, in pages pr groups etc. The wider spread the better for LIzzie and Milo xx
