Please Help Maria towards therapy that will help her live with and ultimately challenge and beat Multiple Myeloma
Bay of Plenty
Some words from Maria
" Hello my name is maria Dabrowska, I'm a choreographer, dancer and creative person and I have just been landed the biggest challenge of my life. I live in Wellington and while visiting my parents in Tauranga in October last year after experiencing severe back pain - I visited my doctor and was diagnosed with a cancer called multiple myeloma. This was the most unbelievable shock ever, especially as in the previous year my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Multiple myeloma is a blood plasma cancer that usually affects older folks, I am very young to get it. In traditional medicine there is no cure for MM - yet it is treatable with both chemotherapy and a process called a stem cell transplant, both of which i am currently undergoing - the aim of which is to put the cancer into a good partial remission and this may prolong my life by as much as four to ten years. One of the unfortunate impacts of MM is that it eats your bones when it is in an active stage and i have had a titanium rod place in my femur bone as a hole was found right through the center of it - i also have some deterioration to my spine and some lytic lesions in my pelvis my right shoulder and my cranium.
While I am getting some good results with the chemotherapy - after my stem cell transplant is complete i would like to back this treatment up with natural therapy by a NZ practitioner who has a very strong reputation both here and internationally in dealing with cancer. Chemo is an aggressive treatment that can work well in the short term however I really believe that to increase my chances for long term survival a natural therapy is the very best option for me. I believe that the human body is capable of some profound healing given the right circumstances - and after a lot of research I feel that I have found a potential way forward with treating my cancer. I'm really looking froward to starting with this treatment. However the natural therapy is not government funded, and so i need to cover the full cost of it and it will take around 4 years to complete this treatment.
I am hoping that with many giving a little this may be more of a reality to achieve than I had initially thought and so I will appreciate your support in any way that you are able and comfortable with in helping contribute to my staying alive and living well fund.
I really am keen to get back into life and back into work! I am very lucky to have the support of loving family and friends without which I would be totally lost If cancer does one thing it makes you appreciate the small things - the things that you take for granted - good health is golden - and I reckon i can get this back ...Maria"
I am helping Maria with this cause as I am one her closest friends. I am determined to help her fund the treatment that will enable her to get her life back on track and not only that but to be able to work, dance, contribute to life and feel strong again. I miss having her around like crazy and so do the rest of her friends and colleagues. Lets make a little miracle for maz and give her that confidence that she can go for it.
