Hey everyone, I just want to take a moment to personally thank every single person who has donated to this cause. It truly means so much to me, and I’m deeply grateful for the support.

I know that grief can bring stress, tension, and misunderstandings. My dad’s friends and our wider whānau have all been deeply affected by this tragedy—especially with the uncertainty of not knowing where he is, whether he’s cold, hungry, hurt, or still waiting to be found. That uncertainty is heartbreaking for all of us.

While reports have been made to the appropriate parties, my focus remains on unity, transparency, and honouring my dad with dignity and respect.

“All I want is to honour my dad properly and make sure that I—and we—do everything we possibly can for him. This has been the hardest time of my life. My father is my best friend. But I am committed to staying involved, supporting my whānau, and following through with everything that needs to be done. Dad deserves that, and so does everyone who loves him.”

The support shown so far has been deeply appreciated.
If everyone could please share this page, it would be a huge help.

If anyone would like to be involved in the efforts to help find David, please leave a comment and I will be in contact.

    Thank you

Liam Roe, David’s only biological son, has been closely involved throughout this extremely difficult time. From the beginning, he has stayed connected with David’s friends and whānau to coordinate plans and ensure everyone remains informed.

To support these efforts, Liam and his immediate support network have personally covered all travel‑related costs. This includes food, petrol, and accommodation, totalling just under $1,000.00. The helicopter service (as that is the only way in /out to reach the isolated area has cost an additional $1,200.00, which has also been paid privately by Liam.

All receipts and documentation for these expenses are available.

Liam travelled to the Waioeka Gorge area and has since returned to Auckland due to existing commitments. Throughout this time, he has remained in active communication with David’s close friends in hopes to organise a search of the forest/bush along the river when it is safe and accessible.

Liam took food and supplies to support his step‑mother and step‑brother during this period.

The total costs already paid exceed the amount currently raised on this page. Funds from this Givealittle will help reduce the financial pressure associated with ongoing travel, coordination, and search‑related plans.

Liam plans to return to the area as soon as possible, and he is hopeful that road access will reopen so that organised search efforts can continue. This page will be updated as plans develop.

Unfortunately, David still hasn’t been found. Liam has returned to Auckland due to important commitments, but he will be back down as soon as he can.

We are incredibly thankful for David’s mates who are coming together and preparing to do a sweep of the forest in hopes of finding him. Their support, dedication, and love for David mean so much to our family.

We continue to hold hope and remain deeply grateful for everyone who has been helping, searching, and keeping David in their thoughts. We are doing everything we can to support the ongoing efforts to bring him home.
