Hi, my name is Renelle Nisbet and I am a senior Charge Cardiac Sonographer at Auckland City Hospital - ADHB. Thank you for visiting my Give a little page – “Mission to Nepal” supporting a wider team from CardioStart International.

Currently, our focus is on one hospital in the city of Bhaktapur, Nepal, approximately 30min from Kathmandu. The hospital is called the “Human Organ Transplant Center” (HOTC).

Currently in Nepal there are no Cardiac Sonographers.

The “Mission to Nepal” is a global initiative seeking 10 highly skilled volunteers to train a group of Nepalese nurses to be able to perform rudimentary Cardiac Ultrasound thereby saving countless lives which would otherwise be lost due to the complete lack of local skills and systems to perform the heart imaging and diagnosis of many patients.

Mission to Nepal’s intention is to teach cardiac ultrasound over a short period of about 12 months commencing a comprehensive online echocardiography curriculum that will be complimented by one-on-one skill transfer.

My Give-a-Little page is to raise funds for Airfares and Accommodation to travel to Nepal in addition to my professional skills, personal time and annual leave I am freely giving to this worthy cause.

Upon my arrival to Kathmandu Airport a designated representative of the local hospital staff will meet me and take me to a low cost hotel in Bhaktapur. Arrangements have been made for me to meet with members of the Mission to Nepal cardiology team for orientation before the first day of work.

I seek donations with a target of $5,000.00 with budgeted costs of $4,700.00. Any extra money left over will be donated to the Cardiostart Organisation.

Thank you for reading my story and for your generous donations; I will also start a Facebook page allowing you to see where your donations are being spent and how you will be able to assist the Nepalese locals.
