Mist the cat and his mate John need help

John and his cat Mist live in the flat next door and he has been very good to me since I moved in 3 years ago. Often brings over meals he has cooked or offers assistance. His cat comes over each morning and evening looking for my cat as they are great buddies.

Unfortunately, John had a rough time since Covid. He lost his job as a sous-chef and now his cat has had to have surgery to sort out a massive abscess in it’s jaw. Surgery cost $600 plus ongoing meds.

I have offered to pay the vet’s bill as Mist is John’s best mate and he won’t cope well if anything happened to him.

John is very keen to repay the debt but it would be great to have this settled so that he does not have to reduce his weekly income for the next year. If there is anything left over, it would enable him to rely less on the food bank and gain back his independence.
