MMA World Championship Bid

My name is Xavier Williams. I am 17 years old and have been selected to represent New Zealand at the WKA World Mixed Martial Arts championships in Prestatyn Wales in November 2022.

I am a year 13 student at Havelock North High School. I started training Brazilian jujitsu at the age of 10 with Oliver MMA in Auckland, and won first place at the 2018 NZ Grappler Auckland Regional Championship and 2018 NZ Grappler Nationals. Over the past 3 years I have been training at Gracie Allegiance Jujitsu Academy in Hastings and have focused my efforts on preparing for MMA competition. I won the Caesar MMA scholarship in June 2021 and my MMA debut was on the Born to Fight card in August 2021. I won my fight in 30 seconds by technical submission.

Martial Arts are a huge part of my life and I strive to get better every day. I train twice a day 6 days a week in preparation for my fights. The World Championships in Wales would allow me to gain huge amounts of experience and to test myself against the best fighters in class from all over the world.

I am doing all that I can to raise $10,000 for my competition travel, accommodation, insurance, entry fees and equipment. I have been working a part time job to assist with raising these funds but this will not be enough to get me to Wales. As such, I am reaching out for your support.
