Support Ollie Schmid & Rory O'Keeffe to win gold at IMMAF Amateur World Championships

Happy New Year! This is going to be the year of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)!

For those who are new to the sport, MMA is a hybrid combat sport incorporating techniques from boxing, wrestling, judo, jujitsu, karate, Muay Thai (Thai boxing), and other disciplines.

Together with best friends and training partners, Rory O’Keeffe and Ollie Schmid, we’re looking for support to help us attend the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Amateur World Champs in Abu Dhabi from January 24-29, 2022.

Nearly 500 athletes from 40 countries will be attending this first World Championships in two years, after COVID put a stop to competition in 2020.

We’re both 21-year-old amateur MMA fighters training out of North Shore-based Shuriken MMA.

It’s our dream to become world champions and we believe we'll achieve this!

We’ve collectively trained in martial arts for 11 gruelling years between us, and our preparation for

the world champs has been rigorous, training schedule six days a week, 2-3 times a day.

We appreciate the challenges that COVID has brought for all of us, and we’re incredibly grateful for even the smallest donation. The champs will be broadcast live on IMMAF TV, and in addition we’ll vlog the entire build-up, climax and post-event scenes for everyone supporting us to see first-hand.

Staying abroad due to NZ entry restrictions 12 January 2022

Hey everyone,

This is our first Givealittle update. Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed to this page. Words simply cannot describe how much this means to us. We will do everything in our power to make you all proud.

We are increasing our goal to $25,000. The reason for this is that we are unable to come back into the country straight away due to restrictions on people travelling and coming back into the country. We attempted the MIQ lottery and failed, so we have decided to travel to Europe after IMMAF and get some experience training in different gyms overseas which we believe will be beneficial.

We are going to make things work with whatever we have raised, and don't expect any of you to donate any more. But anything more you can give is super appreciated so we can pay off our overseas expenses while we wait for self-isolating to open back up in NZ.

We also have supporter T-Shirts for sale over on rumblejunction.com. We have attached images of what these look like. They cost $50 each, and we do a combined package for $90 so you save $10 by purchasing two T-Shirts. This is another great way to support us.
