Fundraising for: Moe & Seiaute’s Journey ( A father’s love & a daughter’s wish to have every day turn into hopes & sparkles)
Auckland
On 24 October 2021, my Dad’s life changed dramatically.
My dear father had a fall and as an end result, he had managed to fractured many bones and a spinal cord injury leaving him paralysed from the hip down and being fed via a tube.
He is currently in the Spinal Rehab Unit at Middlemore Hospital.
It’s a very long road to his recovery but each day is a blessing to wake up to appreciate a new day. Every day, we are grateful we still have each other.
As his only daughter, he is my life and I only want the utmost best of care for him. As I embark this journey alongside him, I learn that rehabilitation is not a medical process but a process of learning.
He is the most important stakeholder in the outcome of his own rehabilitation. Not the Doctors. Not the Hospital. Not me (his daughter)...but HIM
I also learnt that a Spinal Cord injury is not the end of the road, it may mean hanging up his dancing shoes for good and getting a new set of wheels but there is no reason to sit on the roadside & watch life pass him by.
My Dad’s favourite saying is “When you run alone, you run fast but when you run together you will run far”.
I know he is not alone and with his support system put in place by those who showered him with prayers & so much love. I vow, Dad, you will go far! We are in this together.
I wish to be there for my father as much as possible and I am appealing for your help so I can be by his side.
I am also compiling a list, his bucket list and detailing all the things he want to tick off in the limited time we have left together.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all your never-ending support. We love and appreciate you all.
