Sponser my ride and help us help others
Bay of Plenty
Hi all,
Next year, Lacey, Charleigh and myself have this amazing opportunity to attending a Samoan Malaga mission as part of their school, St Mary’s Catholic primary school.
This amazing opportunity enables the girls to be immersed in culture different from home. I hope the creative and growing minds of my children will recognize and respect the different lifestyles, while learning and living compassion, support, understanding and expanding their minds.
From the mouth of Lacey ‘ we can go to Samoa and sit on the beach whenever, but going their and helping and being part of the mission will be amazing and far better’.
The costs of the mission for my family alone is approx. $6000. I know I am financially fressioush, but saving $6000 is pushing it even for myself.
I thought long and hard what I can do to fundraise the money needed. Looking at what i like and am good at, baking and selling goods came to mind, but then I am a b*&^% when cooking under pressure for people. Plus adding in being a single mother, not solo as my children have an army village around them, working full time and masters studies, my kitchen craziness would be next level that no-one would want to be round!
So then what else can I do? The bush is my home, and I use to bike a lot when I
was a kid, so why not combine these two! And that is what I am doing.
Over the Easter break 2019, April 21st-23rd, (weather dependent) I am embarking on a mental and physical challenge biking the Motu trail loop, a 91 km bike ride from the beach in Opotiki to the bush and back.
The Dunes Trail is an easy gravel path running parallel with the coastline of the Bay of Plenty for 10km. The Motu Road Trail goes from the end of the Dunes Trail to the rustic settlement of Matawai, 67km away. The Pakihi Track is the third trail in the Motu trilogy, and although it is mostly downhill it includes Grade 4 (Advanced) mountain biking on a narrow trail through remote native forest.
A lot of people could do this ride in one day, but me, well I haven’t been on a bike for almost two years, and that was just a flat 3km ride to work.
So I am getting my s*** together to complete the ride and raise funds for our mission.
Give what you want to sponsor and support my ride and hence our mission in Samoa in October next year.
And if you want to join me on this exciting adventure, do not hesitate to get in contact, the more the merrier.
Please note this is my individual fundraiser for the mission trip and is not affiliated with the Samoa Malaga mission committee or St Mary’s catholic primary school Tauranga.
All proceeds will go towards our mission in October 2019.
