Embarking on a journey to to restore and bring back to life a piece of New Zealand sailing history (Tawhiri 1933, Colin Wild)
Auckland
I've embarked on a journey to to restore and bring back to life a piece of New Zealand sailing history (Tawhiri - 1933, Colin Wild design and built - google the name to find her full history). I'm in the process of setting up a charitable trust that will restore, maintain and operate Tawhiri for charitable purposes aimed at providing youth and the wider community that may not have the means to get into sailing an opportunity and gateway to experience sailing an historic vessel. As the trust isn't yet set up and not able to raise funds - I need your help! Tawhiri needs to be moved from Nelson to Auckland over the next few months to start her restoration journey. Funds raised will help with transport costs ($10,000) and the fabrication of a storage cradle ($5,000) - this equates to $20 from 750 people! I'm currently 1 year into a six year process and am highly motivated to see this restoration journey succeed and look forward to your support! Thank you.
Transportation ($10,000) and fabrication of a storage cradle ($5,000). If the target amount of $15,000 isn't reached then alternative funding opportunities / sponsorship will be sought to obtain the balance.
Hi Lou. Thank you for your support! It has taken a year and a half to get this far in the process and the move to Auckland is the last step in phase 1 of 3! A website is in development for the trust and I'll set up a social media account in the following weeks so you and others can follow along in the journey. Please feel free to share this page with your networks, community and friends. Cheers Josh
