Mr. Snippy Desexing Program, Bay of Plenty

$670 of $160,000 goal
Given by 14 generous donors in around 6 months

Help us to build a mobile trailer for our "Mr. Snippy" program, a community desexing initiative in the Bay of Plenty

Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty

The Vet Post Charitable Trust has been established to address animal welfare issues in the Bay of Plenty. Our first program, "Mr. Snippy," aims to reduce the stray cat and dog population through desexing, vaccinating and microchipping pets, reducing disease outbreaks, and improving the ability to find lost pets.

We will work with local rescue groups, charities, councils, and vet clinics to identify areas in need, and also serve the public who cannot afford these services

We plan to run one surgical day per week and 3-4 multi-day campaigns annually. Initially, we will have a semi-permanent base but will move to areas with the greatest need for multi-day campaigns.

To fund this initiative initially, we need $160,000 to build and equip our mobile surgical trailer, with ongoing annual costs around the same amount. We anticipate desexing 10 dogs or 20 cats per surgical day.

The community urgently needs this program, as several local rescues are at capacity and have closed their doors. The benefits to the community, pets, and the environment will be substantial. In the future, we aim to expand this pilot program to a full-time service, extending beyond the Bay of Plenty to other regions, focusing on animal education and welfare.

Thank you for your support.

About us

The Vet Post Charitable Trust has been established to provide a vehicle for animal welfare issues in the Bay of Plenty. Our first program "Mr. Snippy" is a community desexing initiative, aimed at reducing and ultimately eliminating the stray cat and dog population in our region. Within this initiative, we will also be vaccinating and microchipping all pets that come through our doors, which will help with reduced disease outbreaks (such as Parvovirus) and increased database information, and the ability to find lost pets

Use of funds

This money will be spent on building and kitting out a mobile surgical trailer, any addition funds will go directly to the program itself (desexing cats and dogs)
