Please help support mum and her whānau through this tough uphill journey
Putaruru, Waikato
Kia Ora Whānau and Friends,
Earlier this year mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 incurable stomach cancer. We are on our chemotherapy journey (4 cycles in) and was told, treatment will prolong mums life but not cure. 6 months without treatment or a good year with treatment we were told. We are all hopeful for that one miracle, as well as mum who is a fighter, strongest stubborn women I know and is in good spirits.
Mum moved in with Joseph and I and our 3 tamariki at the end of last year. I personally have taken the rest of the year off mahi to help support mum and my whānau through this journey. We have supported mum and will continue to support and fight along side her.
I am setting up this page along with mums approval to ask our whānau and friends if they could givealittle to help mum. We are not ones to normally ask but to have mum longer, to make mums life a little easier under these circumstances would make the world of difference not only to mum but our whānau as well.
This money will be used to help mum purchase her medicines & natural remedies to help her fight this, travel costs as we have fortnightly chemotherapy treatments in Hamilton, blood tests and flushes every week in Tokoroa, extra doctor visits and tests, money for groceries, personal care, daily living expenses and the extra cost it has had on my family personally.
Anything will be gratefully and respectfully appreciated.
Ngā mihi nui,
Elias and Mum’s approval
My name is Elias Scheres and I am Doris Shadrock’s daughter.
Help mum purchase her medicines & natural remedies (chemo pills, pills for breaking down acid, Rongoa, Matol) travel costs, extra doctor visits and tests, money for groceries, personal care, daily living expenses and the extra cost it has had on my family personally.
Thank you and update 2 June 2023
On behalf of mum and her whanau, we would like to say thank you to all our friends and whanau who have kindly donated. We are very overwhelmed and beyond grateful for the love and support shown. Your kind donation has made this uphill batter for mum and her whanau a little easier and a little weight off the shoulders. We are forever grateful and we thank each and everyone from the bottom of our hearts.
Update on mum..
Mum has completed 4 cycles of chemo and has responded really well with only one set back. After her 2nd cycle of chemo, her white blood cell count took 3 weeks to recover which meant a delay in treatment and 1 out of the 3 chemo treatments she is taking was lessen from 100% to 75%. Other than this, she has had little to no other side effect after the following 2 treatments.
We are winning! Mums last CT scan showed, since we have started the chemo treatment, her cancer in under control (stopped growing rapidly), and surprisingly has shrunken which is the best news to date because it means; the treatment plan is working and mums living timeline just got a little longer. We are still faced with, this treatment is to prolong mums life but not a cue (so we are told), but we will take the win, big or small.
Mum has a PICC line in her arm which she uses for her chemo treatments. Next week she will be having surgery to put a port line in her chest to free her arms to do more things but mostly shower easier.
Forever grateful whanau and friends,
Nga mihi nui katoa.
