Michelle needs help towards home support, petrol and medical costs.
Auckland
Hi everyone in August last year I was rushed to hospital with a huge amount of chest and back pain. Once at hospital I was put through a CT scan and instantly diagnosed with a condition called type b aortic dissection. I was in hospital for 2 weeks while they worked on getting my blood pressure under control and stabilise one of my kidneys and bowels as well as my intestine as they were all badly affected by the tear in my aorta. The prognosis of this condition is not always positive but I have so far been very lucky to have survived and have not needed surgery up til now and am medically managed with medication and frequent appointments and CT scans to monitor my condition. But due to this and living in pain and discomfort I am not longer able to work like I use to. Just sitting and walking are both challenges let alone doing housework or anything else more physical. I am no longer allowed to exercise, other then walking. Can't do most house chores due to pain or ending back in hospital. I have to check my blood pressure twice a day to monitor it doesn't get to high and have monthly visits to my GP. I have 3 monthly ct scans and specialist visits to keep an eye on my aorta. I am a single mum to 3 kids so life is pretty hectic at home without the added stress of financial problems and extra costs. Work is currently not an option (maximum of 3/4 hours a week currently) due to the physical nature of it and having to have naps throughout the day otherwise my body gets too sore.
Money will be spent of household expenses as well as costs of gp, prescription, parking, and petrol costs.
