Hi, we are Caitlin and Katrina from Ashburton. This is our very personal story.

A bit about us..

Caitlin here, I’ll start.

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a mother. But in 2010 I had an ectopic pregnancy and had to have my left tube removed. This scared me and I made a decision to not want children in fear of that ever happening again. That was until I met Katrina. She made me feel safe and not scared anymore so I agreed that our family should be added to.

Hey there, Katrina here.

I can honestly say I’d never really thought about having children of my own, that was until I met Caitlin. My views and goals changed. In 2009 I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and told by my doctor at the time that I’d never have children. Back then I was young and didn’t really think anything of it.

I know miracles happen everyday.

We have been together five years and married for three.

We have gotten onto the wait list at fertility Associates, however do not qualify for public funding. Thus here we are asking for friends, family and strangers help in donations.

We have both also had blood tests done and found that both of us have low amh levels (anti-mullerian hormone) which is associated with decreased ovarian reserve which means we have a low amount of eggs.

Caitlin has also had a saline infusion scan (sonohysterography) which found her only remaining tube to be blocked.

We have had a personal donor assist us with six AI attempts (artificial insemination) to no avail.

We wish to go through ivf with Caitlin opting to carry.
