1 of the 20 young Australians and New Zealanders attending the MUN Tour 2018, participating in the Ivy League and Yale Model UN in the USA.
Nelson / Tasman
I have been selected to be part of the Australian & New Zealand's school delegation to attend the Ivy League and Yale Model United Nations whilst on the Model United Nations Tour 2018.
We will be attending two international Model United Nations conferences where we will debate and interact within the context of United Nations negotiations in the highest form of simulated diplomacy available to students.
Additionally, we will tour nine US university campuses including: Stanford, UC Berkeley, Harvard, UPENN, Princeton, Yale, NYU, Columbia and MIT.
Being selected to embark on this study tour will give me the opportunity to gain a higher knowledge of how Model UN works outside of New Zealand, to be further educated on topics such as the government, politics, law and international relations. Growing up in Nelson, I’ve come to know that it is a very small region with very little opportunities that allow young people to broaden their knowledge, so I will make it my aim to bring back the knowledge that I gain on the tour back into my community and inspire others to do the same, to show people that education is not limited to just school or studying for exams but it is about getting out there and learning from other people. Attending Ivy League and Yale Model UN to me, isn’t just a trip overseas to explore the world. It is a tour to broaden the minds of young NZ’s like me, it is a chance to connect with like minded people, to gain knowledge on how the world outside of NZ works, to bring back that information and implement it into NZ’s system.
Unfortunately, amazing opportunities such as this one does come at a cost. All donation's and your support will allow me to participate in the trip, every little bit helps!
All funds raised will go towards the fee of $8000. This includes flights, accomodation, conference fees, activities and food.
