Give hard working students a final chance and support upcoming NZ musicians
Wellington
Nearing the end of 2022, Whitireia Polytechnic announced that they will be discontinuing music courses in 2023. This was a hard blow for all the music students and the local community - thousands of dollars had been invested in studying and students were not offered the possibility of seeing their studies completed, even though many had already been studying for several years.
Fortunately for students seeking to complete their final year at Whitireia, we were eventually offered the opportunity to do so. In this however, access to necessary spaces and some equipment was lost.
Many of these final year students were seeking to use the resources Whitireia was previously providing to record and release their own musical works and launch themselves into a career in the music industry. These projects were already being worked upon by passionate students, but the limitations in space and equipment have put a stop to this for many of us. I am determined to see this dream carried out in 2023 for all my peers.
I am a final year music student and producer/recording engineer wanting to record, mix, master and see the release the musical projects my peers have started, alongside the completion of what we all set out to achieve. I am looking to raise funds that would allow me to invest in and expand my recording setup, so that I can bring each students ideas to life and provide them with a completed product by the end of 2023.
Funds raised will be used for recording equipment. The equipment invested in will be determined by how much is raised, and includes a laptop, interface, microphones, and complimentary recording equipment such as microphone stands and cabling.
