Kirstys cancer battle.
Timaru, Canterbury
Our sister Kirsten recently got diagnosed with stage 3 tubular adenocarcinoma stomach cancer. This was unexpected and a massive shock to her, and everyone. Hard to comprehend and process.
September 2022, she randomly had seizures. Bloods found she had critically low iron levels due to losing blood somewhere. October had a gastroscopy. Loss of blood was in her stomach. A biopsy was done on the ulcerated sores, nothing came back too serious, and was placed on high levels of pills to help heal them, food and drink restricted.
Second gastroscopy and biopsies 3 weeks ago, ( iron levels plummeting) , found the cancer.
After tests the cancer doesn't look to of spread past the stomach.
She has to undergo 2 months of rigorous chemo in Timaru followed by stomach removal surgery in Chch and then more chemo afterwards. This will be her biggest and toughest fight ever!
My sister in law Pania is working up to 50 hours a week just to keep them afloat. Taking time off to be there for my sister, Pania has already used all her leave. She needs to take more time off, especially surgery time. Finances are stretched to the very limit. So if you are able to, big or small, please help ease some of the financial stress they both will face on this journey. One less thing to worry about so she'll be able to put 100% into fighting this and kicking cancers arse!
My sister Kirsty is a beautiful caring person. She is so loved by us all. Nobody deserves this
Thank you so so much, we all appreciate it xx
She is our sister
Accommodation, petrol, medical expenses, wigs and whatever else is needed
Post Surgery 28 August 2023
Kirsty has had her stomach removal operation and has astounded the doctors with how well she recovered. She is now home and is eating small meals. She can eat quite a bit of things, however there is still alot she can't. Kirsty is awaiting pathology results and tomorrow has an oncology appointment tomorrow to find out when her next lot of chemo begins.
Also an update on what your donations have gone towards: a wig, petrol, accommodation, covered Panias wages when she was in Chch for Kirstys operation, food. They are still blown away by everyone's generosity and are eternally grateful.
Kirstys positive attitude has been second to none on this journey and blows us away with her strength, positivity and determination ❤️❤️
